Time to let…

…the weather nerd in me out to play 😉 .  Hurricane season is in full swing, and it appears that it’s going to be a busy one.  Fay soaked us.  Gustav wimped out a bit.  Hanna may be the first hurricane to hit Savannah/Charleston in something like 100 years.  Ike and Josephine…who knows?

Really, I love weather phenomenon like this.  (Disclaimer:  I don’t love death and destruction…duh).  But I apparently do not like it as much as news reporters, who are out there in the middle of a storm ranting like an idiot about how dangerous it is to be out in the storm.  You almost hope the camera catches some idiot getting whacked with a board flying through the air or something just so you can say, “Idiot.”  But wait, I said I don’t like death and destruction.  Oh, well.  I’ll just concede that the occasional maiming of an idiot reporter clinging to a pole in 100 mph winds just to get a story might…just might…be worth watching.

Oh, a great article about this stupidity here.

Amidst all this, I’m still trying to plan a vacation to the beach – probably the Shrimp Festival down at Gulf Shores in October.  Hopefully, there will be sun.  Lots of it.

Anyway, if you’re sick of watching reporters covering severe weather events, you’d probably like this old SNL Chris Farley “weather report” better:

Heh.  I love that clip.
