Once a gamer, always a gamer…

I grew up playing THIS (Enduro for the Atari 2600):

Enduro - Activision

Old School

Life was good then.  Van Halen was on the radio, Michael J. Fox was about to travel back to the future, Reagan was president, gas was still under $1/gallon, MTV still showed music videos, Chevy Chase was hilarious, Transformers were the greatest toys ever, and video games only needed one button and an 8-directional stick.

Fast forward to today:  Van Halen only holds “re-union” tours, Michael J. Fox is fighting Parkinson’s disease, Obama may soon be president, gas is approaching $4/gallon, YouTube is the best place for music videos, Chevy Chase sounds like a Chevrolet-endorsed short film (Chevy…who?), Transformers was made into an AWESOME live-action movie, and video games require DualShockSixaxis360 controllers with umpteen buttons, rumble effects, and wireless capability.

Things seem so much more complicated today (or is it just me??).

Still, I had a blast last night playing THIS (Gran Turismo 5 Prologue):

With THIS:

Gran Turismo 5 + Logitech Driving Force GT wheel = Gaming Goodness.  Complicated?  Maybe.  Incredibly fun?  Definitely!  So maybe not all things about this world 20 years after the days of 8-bit graphics and “cartridges” are bad.

  1. Jason says:

dude, you better go get Stacey to help you clean up all the nerd you leaked everywhere……

  2. At least I’m not addicted to scrapbooking.

Or some sissy game like, “The Sims.”

Come on, didn’t you plan Enduro back in the day??

Or River Raid..now that was a cool game.

  3. jalack says:

    No, I played sports….;-)

  4. Your mom played sports. ;-).
