Stormy night…

It was a dark and stormy night…

Isn’t that a Snoopy reference?  Dunno for sure…  Anyway, it’s been a long night.  In spite of several attempts to go to sleep, I haven’t been able to.  The big storm – tornado warning and all – rolled through here around 3:30 a.m.  Fortunately, it turned out to be a non-event at our house.  Lots of rain, lots of lightning, etc., but that’s it.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for Lawrence County.  I’ve been listening to radio reports of massive amounts of damage coming out of Moulton:  Homes destroyed, people injured, etc.  The storm left a trail of damage all the way up into Morgan County – where it threw an empty mobile home into the road on Modaus Rd. right at the section of road where the storage facility where we house all the stuff for the church is located!  Apparently, the sign for that storage unit suffered some damage and debris was thrown as far as Shady Gove Lane.  That’s pretty close… just a couple of miles away from our home…less than a mile away from Kyle’s (former Crosspoint guitarist) home.  Wow!!  Maybe we should check on our trailers today.  D’oh!

Hearing these reports and knowing that the storm was coming straight up 24 towards Decatur prompted us to all cram in our laundry room (safest room in our house).  Got phone calls from Jason, Kyle, and Allison all asking if we knew the storm was coming.  I called Dave, let him know.  In the end, I guess we were all awake for nothing, but better safe than sorry – especially considering how close this storm actually was to being an EVENT for us.

Just heard that Lawrence Co. schools are closed today.  Yikes.  So close to home.
