The end of summer?

Posted: September 8, 2007 in Happenings

Apparently, “meteorological summer” is supposed to have come to an end, but you wouldn’t know it being outside.  96 degrees so far.  The weather guys keep promising cooler weather (which is inevitable going into fall, I suppose), but the only indication of any future relief is that the evenings are getting cooler.

I love fall.  I love cool mornings.  I love doing fall things like…camping, grilling out, going to Innovate at Granger, being able to go outside for more than 20 minutes at a time.

I remember the first year we went to Innovate.  When we left Decatur mid-afternoon, it was about 85 degrees.  We drove through a cold front, got out of the car somewhere in southern Indiana (still wearing shorts and t-shirts) and almost froze our tails off.  The temperature had dropped to something like 48 degrees  – a nearly 40 degree change from where we were when we left.

Actually, I’m looking forward to that.  Bring on the cold weather!
